Meet the Principal

Sarah Craig

Welcome to West View Elementary School!

My name is Mrs. Sarah Craig. I earned my bachelor's degree from Northern Illinois University and immediately pursued my master's of arts in teaching from Rockford University, followed by a master's of arts in urban education, also from Rockford University, and a master's of arts in educational administrations from American College of Education. I understand that I must remain a lifelong learner as educational practices continue to grow and change. I've devoted my educational career to Rockford Public Schools beginning as a language arts teacher at Kennedy Middle School, followed by Title I teaching at Jefferson High School, and most recently working as the assistant principal at West View Elementary School.

I believe all students should be provided with the educational opportunities which best support their learning needs. To ensure that every student's needs are met, I promote a collaborative approach which values input from families, the community, teachers and students to develop learning opportunities and establish social and emotional supports. By working together with all of our stakeholders, West View students will meet their greatest potential.

I also believe that students should enjoy learning. To do this, I work hard to ensure that students have fun while learning by building project based learning opportunities, movement, interactive technology and cooperative learning groups into academics.
